Comments Off In todays household, the kitchen is becoming more than just the place where one prepares the meals.
It has transformed, over time, into one of the most common gathering spots for the whole family. Because of this, the designs of more modern kitchens have also evolved. Gone are the days of the dark, purely utilitarian kitchens that no one should enter unless he or she is directly involved in the preparation of the food.
Instead, the modern reincarnation of kitchens takes into account the entire family and the different activities it now plays host to. Good lighting, ample space and comfort are just some of the aspects modern kitchens take seriously into account. To achieve this, certain materials are more popularly used than others.
A good rule of thumb would be to minimize the use of concrete since it tends to give off a cold feeling or emotion.
Materials such as wood on the other hand should be used as often as tastefully possible on the floor, ceiling and walls. Color is another important feature. To bring out the desired effect, the modern kitchen should be bright and fresh.
Simple, neutral colors are much better to use as it makes the space look bigger than it actually is. Also, the modern kitchen has to be well illuminated. Extra lamps may have to be installed to achieve this. This addition though, is not simply for pure aesthetic.
